HeyMahjong Community Guidelines
Last Updated: August 14, 2026
Purpose
HeyMahjong is built around a simple idea: Mahjong brings people together.
Our community features are designed to help people discover other players, find tables, learn, play, and build meaningful connections through Mahjong.
These Community Guidelines apply to participation in HeyMahjong community features, including the Mahjong Player Network, TableMatch, and other community spaces and services offered by HeyMahjong.
Participation in community features is optional.
Participation
Members may choose whether to participate in available HeyMahjong community features.
For features such as the Mahjong Player Network, members may choose whether to appear in the member directory and may turn directory participation off through their account settings.
When using TableMatch or other community features, information you choose to provide may be displayed or shared as reasonably necessary to help players and hosts discover and connect with one another.
Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old to create or host a Community Hosted table or request a seat at a Community Hosted table through TableMatch.
Other HeyMahjong and Mahjong Academy services may have different age requirements.
Information and Privacy
Depending on the feature, information visible to other community members may include:
- display name
- city or region
- country
- Mahjong skill or experience level
- play preferences
- availability to play
- information about a Mahjong table or gathering
Email addresses, phone numbers, exact residential addresses, and other private contact information are not publicly displayed unless expressly stated otherwise.
Members must respect information shared with them through HeyMahjong.
Do not publish, distribute, forward, or use another person’s private contact information, residential address, access instructions, gate codes, or other nonpublic information without permission.
Information obtained through HeyMahjong community features should be used only for legitimate purposes related to the community feature through which it was provided.
Community Expectations
Members are expected to treat players, hosts, instructors, and other community members with courtesy and respect.
The following behavior is not permitted:
- harassment, threats, intimidation, or abusive conduct
- discriminatory or deliberately offensive behavior
- unwanted sexual conduct or inappropriate advances
- spam or unsolicited promotions
- misleading, deceptive, or materially false information
- impersonating another person
- intentionally disruptive or unsafe behavior
- illegal activity
- misuse of HeyMahjong for unrelated commercial purposes
HeyMahjong may remove listings, restrict participation, suspend access, or remove users from community features when these Community Guidelines or other applicable terms are violated.
TableMatch Community Hosted Tables
TableMatch helps Mahjong players find tables and helps community members find players.
A table identified as Community Hosted is independently organized and hosted by the community host who creates or provides the gathering.
HeyMahjong provides the platform that helps hosts and players discover and connect with one another. Unless expressly stated otherwise, HeyMahjong does not organize, operate, supervise, or host Community Hosted gatherings.
Community Hosts and participants are responsible for their own decisions, conduct, communications, and interactions.
Community Hosted tables are different from events identified as Mahjong Academy Hosted, which may involve instruction or other services provided by Mahjong Academy and may be subject to separate terms and conditions.
Community Hosted Tables and Fees
Community Hosted TableMatch listings are intended to help Mahjong players connect for free community play.
Community Hosted tables listed through TableMatch must be free to attend. Hosts may not require participants to pay an admission fee, hosting fee, participation fee, or other mandatory charge in connection with a Community Hosted table.
Community Hosts may not represent their gatherings as HeyMahjong-sponsored or Mahjong Academy events.
HeyMahjong may introduce separately authorized paid-hosting programs in the future. Any such programs may be governed by additional terms, policies, or fees.
Respect Private Homes and Venues
Some TableMatch gatherings may take place in private homes or other privately controlled spaces.
Participants are expected to:
- respect the host, venue, and host’s belongings
- follow reasonable house and venue rules
- remain within areas made available to participants
- not bring additional or uninvited guests without the host’s permission
- not share a private address or access information with people who have not been invited
- promptly notify the host of accidental property damage or safety concerns
- leave the space in substantially the condition in which they found it
Hosts should provide materially accurate information about their gathering and communicate reasonable venue or house rules to invited participants.
An invitation to a gathering does not give a participant permission to enter or access other areas of a host’s property.
Reliability and Cancellations
Hosts and players should make reasonable efforts to honor confirmed plans.
If your plans change, notify the appropriate people as soon as reasonably possible.
Repeated no-shows, intentionally misleading RSVPs, misuse of seat requests, or repeated disregard for confirmed arrangements may result in restrictions on community participation.
Safety and Personal Judgment
HeyMahjong community features help people discover and connect with other Mahjong players.
HeyMahjong does not guarantee the identity, background, behavior, reliability, compatibility, or safety of individual community members unless expressly stated otherwise.
Members should exercise reasonable judgment when communicating with or meeting people they discover through the community.
Participation in an in-person gathering is voluntary. You are responsible for deciding whether a particular gathering, location, host, participant, or interaction is appropriate for you.
If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, you may choose not to attend or may leave the gathering.
If there is an immediate threat to personal safety or another emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency services.
Gambling and Wagering
HeyMahjong and TableMatch are designed for social and recreational Mahjong.
Community Hosted tables listed through TableMatch may not require real-money wagering, gambling, or betting as a condition of participation.
Members are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
Alcohol, Drugs, and Illegal Activity
Hosts and participants are responsible for complying with applicable laws and venue rules.
Illegal drugs, unlawful activity, dangerous conduct, and behavior that creates an unreasonable risk to others are prohibited in connection with HeyMahjong community activities.
Hosts are responsible for establishing appropriate rules regarding alcohol at their independently hosted gatherings and for complying with applicable laws.
No Unauthorized Commercial Activity
Members may not use the Mahjong Player Network, TableMatch, or other HeyMahjong community features to advertise or promote unrelated businesses, products, services, solicitations, or commercial activities without authorization from HeyMahjong.
Community Hosted tables are governed by the free-to-attend requirements described above.
Reporting Concerns
If there is an immediate threat to personal safety or another emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency services first. HeyMahjong’s community contact is not an emergency response service.
To report harassment, inappropriate conduct, privacy concerns, misuse of TableMatch, or another issue involving the HeyMahjong community, contact:
Enforcement
HeyMahjong may review reported conduct and take reasonable action to protect the community and enforce these Community Guidelines and other applicable terms.
Actions may include:
- removing a table or listing
- cancelling or restricting a seat request
- limiting access to community features
- suspending or terminating participation
HeyMahjong is not obligated to monitor or supervise Community Hosted gatherings or to mediate private disputes between community members.
Additional Terms
Certain HeyMahjong services may require acceptance of additional terms, agreements, or liability waivers before participating.
Community Hosts using TableMatch may be required to agree to the TableMatch Community Host Agreement and any applicable host waiver or assumption-of-risk provisions.
Participants requesting or accepting seats at Community Hosted tables may be required to agree to the TableMatch Participant Agreement & Waiver.
Mahjong Academy Hosted tables, classes, and other HeyMahjong-operated services may be governed by separate terms, agreements, and liability waivers.
These Community Guidelines establish standards for participation and conduct. They do not replace any agreement, waiver, or other terms that apply to a particular HeyMahjong service or activity.
If additional terms apply to a particular service, those terms apply in addition to these Community Guidelines.
Changes to These Guidelines
HeyMahjong may update these Community Guidelines as our community, features, and services evolve.
When material changes are made, the updated Community Guidelines and effective date will be posted on the HeyMahjong website.
