What You’ll Learn in One Mahjong Class
Our beginner class is designed for adults who are curious about Mahjong but may not know where to begin. Your instructor will introduce the different tile suits, explain how a hand develops, and demonstrate how players take turns around the table. You’ll learn common calls, basic table etiquette, and how to recognize useful tile combinations.
After the introduction, you’ll practice with other students while an instructor helps answer questions and guide the flow of play. There is no need to bring a group of four or purchase a Mahjong set in advance. The goal is to make your first game approachable and enjoyable, not to rush through complicated strategies.
What makes this class different? The setting is part of the experience. Little Green A Plant Bar provides a welcoming, plant-filled place to meet neighbors, try something new, and enjoy an evening away from screens. HeyMahjong supplies structured instruction, Mahjong sets, and reference materials.
These Mahjong classes in Redwood City are offered as individual sessions, not a progressive multiweek course. Your $129 registration covers one 2½-hour class on the date you select. Every session covers the same beginner material, so choose the date that fits your calendar. After class, you can continue practicing with the included 30-day access to HeyMahjong online learning and play tools.
